Rain, Thunderstorms Expected Across Nepal Through Friday

Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast partly to generally cloudy skies across Nepal for Thursday and Friday, with light to moderate rainfall expected in several areas and heavy rain possible in isolated locations.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the current weather pattern is influenced by western and local winds in the western and central regions, while monsoon winds are affecting most parts of Koshi Province.
Key Weather Highlights:
-Thunderstorms and lightning are likely in hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces.
-Heavy rainfall may occur in one or two places within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini.
-Light snowfall or rain is also possible in high hilly and mountainous regions, particularly in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki.
-While the eastern region has seen a drop in temperatures due to recent rains, the western region remains hotter, though a gradual temperature decrease is expected there as well.
Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane confirmed that recent rainfall has affected areas including Kathmandu Valley, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Khotang, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Kavre, Nuwakot, Gorkha, and Makawanpur.
Despite local showers, the department clarified that there is no weather system currently capable of producing widespread rainfall across the entire country. However, afternoon heat is likely to persist, especially in the western regions.
Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and potential localized heavy rainfall.
